Why was my Library account deactivated or deleted?

Answer

Library accounts are removed from the system according to Library policy, and user/PII management.

  1. User no longer meets eligibility requirements
    1. MCU Research Library has different and stricter eligibility requirements than DoD-MWR Library, which is open to all DEERS-eligible users with a DOD ID card
    2. We can't afford to be "open" to "all military personnel"
  2. Limited number of user seats
    1. If we keep all the accounts ever made, we can't add more
    2. We can't afford to offer "alumnae access"
  3. User account expired and user did not renew
    1. MCU Research Library is not connected to DEERS, your CAC, or DOD-MWR Library
    2. User accounts are good for 1 year; faculty accounts for 2 years
    3. If an account expires, it is not automatically renewed and eventually removed

 

Specific reasons accounts are deactivated or deleted:

  • User is no longer eligible/authorized
  • User leaves MCU Employment
    • No longer works for Marine Corps University, or is no longer affiliated with it
  • User account expires and user did not renew
    • The Library send out automatic notifications to users 30 days before their account expires.
    • If the account is not renewed, we allow a 30-day grace period.
    • If the account is not renewed within 30 days after the expiration date, it is removed from the system.
  • User is in violation of Library policies
  • User graduates from or leaves MCU Resident Schools
    • All student library accounts are deactivated on 30 June of the graduation year
    • Applies to: CSC, EWS, SAW, MCWAR
  • For CMC Scholars and other Special Fellows, based on information received from MCU program manager

Graduating students should inform the Library if they'll be working on base, or staying in the local area. Your user type will be changed to Active Duty.

Student accounts are only for current students. If you're attending another MCU resident school, let us know so we can update your account.
