Can I use the library during the government shutdown?

Will library resources still be available during the government shutdown?

Answer

Yes and no.  While the physical library building will be closed during the government shutdown, there will be no access to any of the print materials, audio books (CDs and Playaways), or movies.

However, all of the MCU Research Library electronic resources will be available. MCU students, faculty and staff will still be able to find and access electronic articles, ebooks, and audiobooks.  Please note you will need to use your Open Athens Login information to access these resources remotely.

Library staff will not be available during the furlough, but we hope the links below will help you with your research needs:

Library Catalog - search for articles, books, ebooks, audiobooks, and movies available through the library.  During the furlough, use the facets on the right hand and focus your search on "Available Online."

List of all library databases - for articles and ebook collections.  Use the Facets at the top to better identify resources to meet your research needs.

Subject Guides - to help direct your search.

Journals - search by subject or title.

DoD MWR Digital Library - available to all Military, Civilian, and Contractor DoD employees. Here you'll find Foreign Policy Online, The Wall Street Journal, Overdrive (ebooks and audiobooks) and Gale Research Databases.
